this week has been full of setting up my class, doing this and that, trying to study, getting up in the wee early hours again and i'm TIRED!! i can't imagine once school starts again, it's back to getting up at 5:30, work with a bunch of animals (a.k.a my kids), classes in the evenings (stats, no less!), proctoring other evenings, going home to cook/clean/be a maid in general, study at night, study groups on my other free evenings, going to pilates if i'm lucky, sunday night meetings with the eo team for the event in november, asdhakjs ljksadh hwjhlkalhs awueyaldhlasjdhyu....
i think i just fell asleep for a moment there. sigh. the list is endless, the possibility of going out on weekends is now zero. awesome.
i need some tv right now.

really i can't get myself to study... not sure why but i keep procrastinating and the exam is basically 6 weeks away blaaaahh. i have to figure something out to make this work! make it work! (as tim gunn would probably say). focus on the trajectory! (which he just said on today's episode). carry on!

??
something is definitely wrong with me. i have a super important exam coming up in a month, i have so much shit to do for work, and i just agreed on helping some friends running a big event in a few months. i have all day today and haven't started shit. i think this is BEYOND procrastination; this is a severe, chronic and acute condition that i have.
*sigh*

can't believe it's been a week since my drunken afternoon bonanza! i'm excited for some reasons: it's friday (duh), i'm going to a wedding tonight (an indian wedding that starts at 9 pm and supposedly ends at 2 am. nice!), i'm going to the water taxi beach party thingy tomorrow (hopefully), and today was the last day of my math camp. nothing wrong with the camp, i enjoyed every minute of it but i'm just glad it's over. and this weekend i'm planning to do lotsa work and get ready for getting ready for my classroom.

got math?
i am enjoying my math camp (camp for teachers) and i am proud to say so. yes i love math. and yes i love teaching it even more. there, i've said it! this is as dorky as it gets.
but seriously, i have learned a lot this week (and we still have 2 more days to go!) and this year my class will have the highest math state test score ever. i've started planning my lesson plans (gosh i'm SUCH a teacher) and i'm getting excited. okay i better stop right now before i lose my street cred. i think i lost it after the first sentence.

it's saturday!
yesterday my friend and i spent the whole afternoon drunking... we went out for lunch at this yummy viatnemese restaurant and drank sake (it was cheap, 5.50 for a small bottle, 3 shots for each of us). followed by a stroll in the farmer's market (i wish i had buy a lot of fresh veggies there, but i knew i was going out for a while and didn't want to carry bok choy for a day). followed by a pitcher (a whole pitcher!) of sangria, for the two of us. damn we got drunk before 5:30 pm. not good. anyways, she went home, i went to meet my hubby. we were planning to see batman but the rain got the worse of us, so we ended having dinner at tgif instead (they are pretty expensive considering the food was mediocre). both of us fell asleep on the train and missed our stop, i was ready to pass out by then. finally got home and watched good ol' men in black (the first one- this is one movie i could watch more than 50 times, which i have, and still find it enjoyable). finally finally passed out at 12. no serious damage done.

yawn...
can't believe i woke up at 3:45 am today and that i missed the ending of project runway last night. i fell asleep on the couch and i had all this weird dreams with all the project's contestants and everything. weird.
anyhoo.. got up early and searched youtube for last night's episode, found it but they haven't posted the ending part. it was a sign for me to start working instead on my school work and i did.

intervention
i watched this show intervention on a&e last night on this girl who was abusing inhalants (she used computer dusters). holy cow it was scary and they showed her using it and getting high from it. pretty disturbing. once i watched an episode on opium and that was pretty depressing too. these were not "happy, fun" users. these people would get high on the side of highways (or anywhere) and this couple were getting high together ALL the time. the sad thing is, the guy wanted to quit but he was afraid his girlfriend would leave him if he did. sad.
anyways, here i am typing away and i see the computer duster right in front of me. made me think about last night's episode. :(

antihuman
i just got back yesterday from jakarta (lloooong flight and loooong transits. super tired). it was fun and too short. i was there for a week and time flew.
anyways... lately there's this big news about this serial killer (ryan) who mutilated his victims, and he happens to be gay. it's interesting because that's the only thing the media is emphasizing. he's gay. GAY. so now, everyone is scared of gays. because all gays are dangerous and serial killers who like to cut up bodies so small you don't know who they belong to (actually, the thought of that is making me sick so i will stop describing it).
oh please...
it's sad that at this day and age, we still assign generalizations to groups of people. i mean, that was ONE gay person out of 200 million people in indonesia who is a serial murderer. saying all gays are murderers is the same thing as saying all chinese indonesians are gamblers because you happen to know a chinese indonesian living in new york who likes to gamble. or all straight people are killers too because, hey, you heard on the news there was this straight dude who killed someone. now ALL of them are killers. beware!
i'm not downplaying the fact that the murders ryan commited was astrocious and he was obviously sick (and i heard he killed a woman and her 3-year-old daughter too... that IS sick). but i don't like the fact that people think he did this only because he's gay. i know plenty of gays and lesbians and they're fine. sometimes they're better than fine. regardless of your beliefs (religious or otherwise) about same-sex relationships, we need to remember that we're all human, after all. no monkeys, just humans. if you disagree to any type of lifestyle, let's not make it worse by creating a hate culture towards a group of people. because then humanity is just regressing, and that's not a good thing.
it's going to take a miracle to change the attitudes of the millions of indonesians who are now scared of gays (sad, i know), but hopefully one of you will read this and change your mind (and your heart). even if just a little.
