weekend thang

i just spent a whole weekend at an engaged encounter, ya know, for engaged couples. we got to work on our relationship, preparing ourselves mind, body, and soul (just the way they said it!) for our marriage. we were in the middle of nowhere (well, somewhere, but anywhere outside the 5 boroughs is a nowhere... don't i sound quite snobbish here?). anyways, it was good, we got to relax, no tv, no internet (gasp!), no distractions. we had to sleep in separate rooms (lucky for me my roomate never showed up so i enjoyed it. unlucky for him his roomate apparently snored like a hippo attacking alligators -- watch discovery channel-- so he didn't get much sleep at all).

the good thing about the weekend was that there were only couples. the bad thing about the weekend was that there were only couples. it was good in a way that you'll always find even-numbered seats. it was bad because if he was late for something, i had to sit by myself and it was very obvious i was alone. it was bad because we had to do everything together (except sleeping and showering, which was too bad). i guess doing everything together was a good thing too. it was nice, i didn't say it wasn't. it's just i had some awkward moments.

anyways, back to work today and my kids were as insane as ever. i think they need to do a weekend away or something, and never come back - now that will make my life a lot easier!

i am a procrastinator

i gotta admit, i procrastinate constantly. like right now. i have a shitload of readings to do (boring ones, mind you) and now i'm writing in my blog. my excuse? i haven't written anything for so long people might think i've desserted them. as if. (gosh do you remember when clueless was out and we used to talk right that? whatever. (while making a "w" sign with my hands).

i like making my lesson plans, and i have to do them so i don't mind doing that. as soon as my lesson plans (or lps, to be cool. not like teachers are considered cool anyways. whatever. (with the "w" sign) are done, i'm just looking for other stuff to do instead of my readings. damnit.

some update on school/work- my classroom is crazy. like, mad crazy. (one of my kids introduced me to the word "mad ____" (insert a noun or adjective there). gosh i'm earning mad cash (before taxes, that is). i'm mad hungry. i'm mad tired. notice that i'm not actually mad. whatever.

sooo.. my kids been crazy, my class is a mess, i'm behind in my schoolwork (waaaaayyy behind. further than your behind. way back. keep going. there. oops keep going further. i sound like a person who talks to her imaginary friend. at the age of 26.) so i'm stressed out. and wedding, of course (by the way, lads and gents, i (yes peeps, I --> notice the capital i to stress my point!), i made a wedding website. this comes from a person who could only use word and excel. a website. *applause applause*. granted it's a pre-made, just add and click type of website. oh well. whatever.) the wedding stuff is just icing on the cake to my mad life. (whoa i used the word "mad" in way it was intended to be. good job).

soooo back on track. i am procrastinating. so do you, probably, who are reading this right now. i know you're supposed to be doing something else. get back to it! and i need to get back to my readings. boo hoo.

so... tired...

i'm. so. tired. so. very. tired. i could barely kept my eyes open in class today and i almost fell asleep (even though i sat uh, about 5 feet away from the prof). i can't wait until tomorrow (thursday) because that is ONE day closer to friday (yay for friday).

and what the f is going on with the weather? it is hot and humid and yucky and sticky. gross. i feel sweaty just sitting down watching tv. (which is a lie because i don't even have the time to watch tv!).

revelation!

ok, so i've been kinda obsessed with the hills lately, i don't know why, i just love the show! i gotta admit, brody jenner is hot. you know, back-in-high-school-giddy-hot. i looked him up on google (and of course, this dude is in wikkipedia- but who isn't?) and his "profile" says he's a player etc. etc. Buuttt for you fans out there, you know he's going back with lauren next week and i am sooo excited!

anyways, clearly this is a very un-interesting and un-smart topic (i don't want to call myself dumb, un-smart just sounds, well, not too smart, but not dumb. you know?) but sometimes i just have to share it with the world.

ps- heroes is as awesome as ever. don't know what the heck is going on, but i know it's gonna be a good season!

wedding overload

my mom calls/emails/texts everyday to ask me all about wedding details. and i mean details. to the last period. napkins. dresses (one dress? two? what about engagement pictures? another dress?). invitations. save the dates. color of my eye make-up. hair style. up? down? (i should suggest to have my hair tied on the side, you know, 80's style...). i guess she is VERY excited.

on top of that, i wish we have more money so i don't have to worry about money. (wait, does that make sense?). this wedding-business is f-in expensive. no wonder people become wedding planners, some brides (not me!) are willing to pay their possible house down payments for a nice wedding. maybe i should just serve wine and no food. or maybe i should go naked, that will save a lot of money. or maybe we should just have a backyard bbq (and since i live in nyc in a small apartment, maybe we can borrow someone's backyard).

so right now i'm on wedding overload mode. i just want the day to come so i don't have to stress about it anymore. *sigh* 6 more months to go (shit, only 6 more months? --> see what i mean, i can't even think straight anymore).

the friendster phenomenon

in case you don't know what friendster is... wait, you don't know what friendster is? shame on you. i'm not going to explain what it is, you should know. if not, you are not worthy to call yourself tech-savvy. or tech anything. because everyone knows what friendster is.

so i had a thought about this and i aptly calls my thinking the friendster phenomenon (hence, the title of this post... duh...). i think friendster began with a almost-holy goal, to connect old friends, to make new friends, to maybe get a boyfriend/girlfriend/activity partner (hey this is one of the categories!) in the process. but nooo... this is not really happening. instead, people check on how many "friends" you have. only 200? not popular enough. more than 500? wow dude, you're pretty cool. had to add a second, third, heck fourth friendster account because the first one is at capacity? now i wanna be your friend! nevermind that all your "friends" are paris hilton, hillary duff, bill clinton, and the various bands out there. what's important is you have 546 more friends than i do, so you must be cool. that or you spend waaaayy to much time adding friends on friendster (no pun intended. wait, was that even a pun?)

that said, friendster also becomes a place where you can check out your exes' relationship status. you open his/her fs (abbr. for friendster people! get with the program!), and you see he/she does not have a bf/gf yet (and you secretly smile your secret smile with a look that says, yes!! and i already have one! ha-ha!), and if your ex bf/gf happens to have a new bf/gf, you open the new bf/gf's friendster, and check on him/her. that's how it goes.

and now, friendster becomes the center of your social life. you can see how many people've viewed your page (oh my, only 2 people checked out my page on the last month? damn i must be getting un-popular...). you check out if your current bf/gf puts on "in a relationship" status or still "single" (red flag!). you know who views you (or like me, remains anonymous... it's more fun i tell ya'). the "comments" section becomes a text-messaging-like purpose. i have no time to call you or to email you or to even text you, but let me say what i need to say on your friendster page.

that said, i still check my friendster everyday. i do check my exes' page. i have less than 500 friends though, so i guess i need to add the backstreet boys to my friends list.

energizer bunny

life has been crazy and hectic and non-stop action. just like the energizer bunny. for one thing, i've been leaving my apartment at 5:50 every morning (that's right, i can see the sunrise on the way to work) and i've been getting 5 hours of sleep every night. you ask why, surely no sane person would do such a thing?

welcome to the program. the aba program at tc, that is. full time work, full time school, plus having 2 new ta's in the classroom and dealing with a bunch of emotionally disturbed kids. i shouldn't say it like that, my kids are adorable. i love them. it's been 2 days but i love them already. they're awesome. (keep your fingers crossed! actually, keep your fingers twisted all the way just to be on the safe side).

sooo... after a 5-day hiatus *gasp! that long?* i'm back on the blog-circuit just to say i'm tired. completely tired. thank goodness it's friday tomorrow. happy hour, here we come!! (translation: sleep right after work, here i come...)
